- MIDI message: (e.g.) 0111 1111 ('0' is MSB) ==> 0 ~ 127 (2^7) values

- 8-bit (1 byte) message

- Run under real-time program

 

 

 

Concept:

[Physical fader movement] —> [Voltage generation] —> [A/D converter] —> [Data (binary)]

- Since MIDI is 8-bit message (0~127), fader range is 128 level

- If fader range is 90 dB then each segment will be 90 dB/128 = 0.7 dB/level

- However, typical professional automation system use '12-bit' message

- Thus, 0 ~ 2047 (2^11) values ==> fader range is 2048 level

- So, if fader range is 90 dB then each segment will be 90 dB/2048 = 0.04 dB/level
