SonicProjects ‘OP-X PRO-II’: A Virtual Analog Synthesizer featuring Voice-Based Detuning Features for Unequaled Rich and Organic Sound

The Swiss research-base virtual instrument developer company SonicProjects has released 'OP-X PRO-II' (version 1.2.) — The virtual analog synthesizer featuring voice-based detuning features for an unequaled rich and organic sound. OP-X PRO-II version 1.2 is the new cross-platform version of OP-X PRO-II featuring AU / VST2 / VST3 and 64 bit support with some changes in the patch system and in the MIDI engine.

OP-X PRO-II is a 12-voice virtual analog synthesizer originally based on the legendary ‘Oberheim OB-X’. Although OP-X PRO-II was originally an emulation of Oberheim OB-X, during its evolution the engine was extended with features borrowed from various other iconic synthesizers of this era, which makes OP-X PRO-II incredibly versatile and allows it to clone the sounds of almost any analog synths including Minimoog, Prophet-5, Jupiter-8,  Matrix-12, SH-2000, Elka Synthex, Crumar BIT99 and ARP Pro Soloist.

The technical structure of OP-X PRO-II engine is based on 12 completely independent single voices which correspond to the voice boards of real analog polyphonic synthesizers. Each single voice in fact is an independent mono-synth, each voice has its own signal path and each voice differs very slightly in its sound by default, as it was the case in real analog synthesizers too, caused by device tolerances. This unintended imperfectness is one of the main reasons for the organic and lively sound of the old legendary synthesizers.

OP-X PRO-II does not simply clone voices to achieve polyphony. Its unique Separate Voice Design (SVD) emulates the exact audio signal flow and voices structure of real voltage controlled polyphonic analog synthesizers using a separate independent mono-synth for each voice including all the slight variations and detunings between the single voices which gave these synths that lively and organic sound. These detunings can be controlled globally and also can be edited in every tiny detail for each voice on demand.

OP-X PRO-II is supercharged with features inspired by a wide variety of classic analog synths and so it is not limited to emulating only one specific synth. It’s flexible voice engine featuring a separate pannable mono synth for each voice allows to include or exclude any voice of choice which can make it a Matrix-12 like polyphonic monster synth, a classic 4-voice synth or even a simple innocent mono synth. The filter of OP-X PRO-II was inspired by the famous SEM (Synthesizer Expander Module) filter, but offers a bunch of extensions which make it way more flexible and capable of delivering a wide range of different sound characters.

OP-X PRO-II delivers the fattest and warmest strings, pads, brasses and leads that you’ve never heard before from a virtual synthesizer. It comes with more than 2,500 of the finest presets including the most famous 80s hits sounds and countless well-known presets from various classic vintage synths. In addition, you can download tons of highly elaborated sound banks from the regularly extended Sound Reloads area.
