Elementary Sounds ‘WREMENA.ONE’: A Vintage Textural Electric Guitar VST/AU Plugin inspired by the Legendary Films and Arts of the 20th Century
The Estonian Avant-Garde virtual instruments developer Elementary Sounds has released 'WREMENA.ONE' — A vintage textural electric guitar VST/AU plugin. WREMENA.ONE is a recreation of the beautifully sounding handmade PRS guitar which was recorded by means of tubes and transformers, tape recorders, vintage and modern gears and rare Soviet outboards. The design and the sound of this plugin were inspired by the aesthetics of Suprematism, the French New Wave and the mood of Antonioni's films. WREMENA.ONE is quite unique and sufficiently warm instrument, that has an intimate, almost invisible tone. With this plugin anyone who doesn’t really know how to play a guitar can make beautiful, natural and characteristic guitar sounds without any effort to learn guitars.
The design of WREMENA.ONE was inspired by Suprematist art. Suprematist arts represent chaotic features but simultaneously connote unification. Elementary Sounds team tried to embody the same element of opposition and unity in the sound of this plugin. They brought together guitars that would be quite different from each other and found similarities, combined them into one whole. As a result, WREMENA.ONE generates something thoughtful, intimate and mysterious, but at the same time confident and daring sound.
WREMENA.ONE provides 4 controllable sound lines — 2 microphones lines, 1 pedalboard line and 1 direct line from the guitar to converters. With this sound lines you will get a large number of timbres to choose from. In addition, there are 4 separate audio pan controls, Echo and Space controls, Air control (controlling amount of specific noises such as sounds from picking a guitar string) and the volume control of guitar aftertouch noises. Elementary Sounds team used a lot of gears during sound design process of this plugin such as a tape recorder, fx pedals, rare BBD Soviet reverb and delay, Moog spring reverb and some modular things and so on. The whole library was recorded via tube preamps, 1073’ transistor style preamp, Echoplex amp module, etc. The main sound was captured from the old tube Peavey combo amplifier that sounds bold, retro and warm. So you can add various analog vintage effects to your guitar sounds.
WREMENA.ONE provides 5 different articulations on board — sustain, matte sustain, mute, harmonics and random octaves & notes. Among these, sustain, matte sustain, mute and harmonics are equipped with up to 5 velocity layers and 6 repetitions of every sampled note with a different position of the guitar pick. Every sample has its own ‘pre-air’ amount, which you can control on its own. Elementary Sounds team did not clean the samples to a perfect level of clarity in order to preserve realistic and warm sounds. The Random Octaves patch is provided with repeated notes through an octave and with different dynamics and tempo that were made specifically for textures and recorded manually.
Every patch can be expressed in various and interesting ways through the ‘X slider’. You can think of it as a guitar pedal’s bypass button, but here it’s a slider, the sound of which, you can mix with the original sound or use it on its own. When automation is applied to the X slider, it starts to shine with interesting textures. The sound of each X slider was made from the sounds of each specific patch. For example, the X slider’s sound inside the Sustain patch was made from the Sustain sound and so forth.

Space and Echo were captured from the rare Soviet BBD Delay, the Moog spring reverb module and the old school Boss reverb pedal.

Ability to play not only in mono, but in stereo
Evey patch has its own sound designed 'brother' — the X slider. It accompanies the mainsound in many interesting ways. Each X slider was made from the sounds of each specific patch. For example, the X slider's sound inside the Sustain patch was made from the Sustain sound and so forth.
Minimalistic interface
A lot of character, vibe and textures
Total file size: 2.6 GB compressed (6.3 GB uncompressed)
Elementary Sounds is a company where all instruments are handcrafted with great attention to sound, texture and atmosphere. Here we focus on instruments that have their own character and specific mood. Their simplicity and minimalism are our biggest priority. We attach great importance to the visual component of our products as well. Working on the design of instruments, we try not only to make their use convenient and intuitive, but also to associate their sound with something specific (like the era in which they were created or the art with which we associate their sound) and reflect it in the design of plugins. We’re deeply interested in making our entire workflow as natural as possible and we hope that the use of our instruments will lead to your natural love for them.
