VOID & VISTA 'FRAMES': A Sample-based Kontakt Instrument featuring Powerful Sound Design and an Inspiring Interface
VOID & VISTA is proud to announce the release of 'FRAMES', its latest bold virtual instrument designed for contemporary music creation. Built for Native Instruments' KONTAKT platform, FRAMES combines character-rich, expressive, and unique sampling with powerful sound design features and an inspiring interface. It's an ideal tool for media composers, production music writers, and sound designers, while also expanding the creative arsenal of artists and producers across a wide range of genres—thanks to its diverse palette of emotive sounds and textures.
Built around 40 sound sources captured from unique, unrepeatable sonic moments, FRAMES offers a bespoke collection of carefully curated samples. These were created using prepared instruments, resonant sound objects, and aleatoric performances employing experimental techniques. All sounds were recorded at 96kHz with specialized microphones to capture frequencies beyond the range of human hearing—ideal for pitching down and deep sonic exploration.
These sound sources are organized into five distinct categories:
INSTRUMENTS – Traditional instruments recorded using extended techniques and aleatoric performances
OBJECTS – Uniquely prepared objects and instruments played in experimental ways
EFFECTED – Heavily processed sounds and resonated objects
TEXTURES – Tonal layers, ambient textures, and found sounds ideal for blending
WAVES – Sampled synth waveforms sourced from a curated collection of analog hardware
Beyond that, the new ZONE SHIFT feature dramatically expands the tonal range of each sound source, allowing for instant, dynamic exploration of their movement and detail. By shifting samples across different registers, sounds can transform—from slow and muted to frantic and urgent—at the touch of a key.
Even more impressively, all 40 sound sources can be layered, sculpted, and processed using a powerful dual-layer sound design engine. It includes multimode filters, two MOTION LFOs (LFO 1 and LFO 2), six envelopes, lo-fi effects, an ENSEMBLE page for blending additional voices, parallel CHARACTER insert effects, and dedicated SPACE send effects. All of this creative power is housed within an inspiring, intuitive interface—designed to keep users fully focused on making music.
Whether for music-making or sound design, users will appreciate that FRAMES comes loaded with a vast collection of carefully organized preset snapshots, making it easy to navigate and explore. Each preset includes pre-assigned mod wheel mappings for expressive, jaw-dropping sound manipulation.

VOID & VISTA is a team of four highly-experienced UK-based recording musicians, sound designers, and engineers, whose work has probably been heard by many without them even realising it. Inspired by a mutual love of pushing musical sound design and expression to its limit, they aim to use their combined expertise to create bold virtual instruments for contemporary music.
