The M2 was born from a shared vision among DJs, audiophiles, music producers, and record collectors who sought to reimagine the modern rotary mixer. By returning to the fundamentals of analog audio design, Cometa has created a mixer built around a carefully engineered signal path featuring premium discrete components, Cinemag transformers, and WIMA film capacitors. The result is a Class-A discrete analog architecture designed to provide ultra-low noise, generous headroom, and a warm yet transparent sound character.
The product's industrial design was developed in collaboration with Swiss-born artist and ÉCAL-trained designer Tobias Brunner. Combined with engineering expertise from a respected Los Angeles-based electrical and recording engineer, the M2 reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, sonic purity, and intuitive operation. Every detail, from the custom-machined aluminum chassis to the precision-crafted control knobs, was designed to provide a premium tactile experience.
One of the M2's standout features is its proprietary VU metering system, which incorporates 390 LEDs to provide detailed real-time visual feedback. Users can accurately monitor signal levels, program outputs, and master levels through a single intuitive interface. Multiple selectable metering "personalities" allow users to customize the display while maintaining professional monitoring standards.
For tonal shaping, the M2 includes dual TONE controls based on a Pultec-style passive EQ design. These musical filters allow users to tailor the system's response to different speakers, listening environments, and musical preferences while creating seamless blends between tracks.
The mixer also features active effects send and return channels with selectable PRE and POST routing, enabling integration of external processors and creative sound-shaping tools. This flexibility allows DJs and audio enthusiasts to develop a more personalized sonic signature while enhancing both performance and listening experiences.
Additional features include a high-quality headphone amplifier optimized for clarity and accurate monitoring, an adjustable microphone volume control, and a distinctive lockable hinged chassis that opens to reveal the mixer’s internal craftsmanship and analog circuitry.
