Layers of electrons are shells

▲ Copper (29): Maximum 32 electrons capacity

Elements with free electrons:

- If outer shell has less than 1/2 its maximum number of electrons,

then called ‘Conductor’ (Compounds use outer electrons to keep the elements together)

Elements that bound electrons:

If outer shell has more than 1/2 its maximum number of electrons are called 'Insulators' (Outer electrons spin around each other to form)

Law of Electrostatics:

- Same charge each other (e.g. +, +) ==> Repel

- Opposite charge each other (e.g. -, +) ==> Attract
