The DIN Connector

 

DIN is an abbreviation for the Deutsche Insitut fur Norlnung, a German standards organization that proposed a set of connector configuration in the early 1960's. The standard MIDI connector is the 5-pin DIN.

 

*This is a typical DIN connector used for a MIDI Out port:
