General Characteristics of Amplifier (1)

1. It is safe for amplifier's rated output power to be larger than the speaker's maximum input power. (e.g. Safe: 100W Power Amplifier + 50W Speaker | Not Safe: 50W Power Amplifier + 100W Speaker)

2. The damping factor of an amplifier is larger as the internal impedance of the amplifier is smaller.

3. Harmonic distortion of amplifier contains noise components.

4. Bridge mode of an amplifier is used to increase the output.

5. If you match 50W power amplifier to 100W speaker then:

It can be safe to play low-level volume music.

However, playing music at large levels is likely to cause clipping in the sound.

Treble speakers such as tweeter are likely to break down.

6. If the input signal of a power amplifier is raised 3dB, the input voltage becomes 1.4 times and the output power is doubled.

7. The capacity of an amplifier is determined in consideration of the peak factor of the program to be played.

8. Main factors affecting the sound quality of an amplifier are the design of power circuit of the amplifier, the frequency characteristics of the amplifier, and the degree of sound distortion. The input impedance of an amplifier does not affect the sound quality.
