BAM facilitates the rapid creation and live performance of loop-based electronic music, via the process of sequencing various sound sources and engines such as drum machines, synthesizers and samplers etc., plus effects processing. It also provides a high level of control via parameter modulation and automation. With its track, clip and scene structure, entire songs can be arranged using BAM's 'follow actions' to construct automatic playback transitions between scenes. BAM is a complete music production studio for anyone who wants to make electronic beats and music. Utilizing Imaginando’s signature style of a simple, clean, minimal interface, BAM puts users’ creativity first and helps capture musical ideas fast.
BAM is a groovebox-style application ready for full autonomous music production. BAM comes loaded with various built-in synthesis engines and effects —oscillator synthesizer, sampler, drum synthesizer, analog bass synthesizer, analog emulation of drum elements, and FX: filter, EQ, delay, chorus, compressor, saturator, bit reduction, 3D panner and stereo width, etc. In addition, the huge sound set of sample library is included, which is accessible via the built-in sample manager and recorder. BAM provides various panels for MIDI clips and automation editing as well as a factory soundbank. On the panel is where most of the work on BAM will be done and where you can access to its functionalities. You can start creating your MIDI clips through either the TIMELINE panel or the COMPOSER panel by creating and editing notes which can then be sequenced in clips through the MATRIX panel. Finally you add and create movement to your compositions and give them some sparkle by generating modulations through the MODULATORS panel or through the AUTOMATIONS panel.
The MATRIX panel is the heart of the BAM project structure, displayed as a grid of cells containing colored MIDI clips for each numbered track, and white scene launcher buttons on the Master track. Each clip loops back to the start of the clip until the clip is stopped. For automatic transitions between scenes (a group of clips that form a musical unit) and song arrangement purposes, scenes can be assigned a 'Follow Action' event to occur after a specified number of bars and beats from the moment the scene is triggered.
The TIMELINE panel functions like a step sequencer. Each one of the 16 tracks can have different step sequencer configurations from size to playback speed, directions, etc. Users can make beats in minutes with this easy-to-use up to 256 step sequencer interface. This panel easily visualize multiple tracks with different clip lengths simultaneously, as each track’s playbar indicator moves independently in relation to others.
The COMPOSER panel displays an environment with a piano roll keyboard on the left side and its timeline on the right side which allows you to create and edit the contents of the Matrix clips with various tools. One thing to point out here is that the piano roll interface of BAM is designed for both desktop and touch interaction. So, whether you want to edit your beats or song, you can do it anywhere with BAM.
The AUTOMATIONS panel provides clip-based automation of the parameters of a track's trigger, engine, FX and mixer devices. It also features the timeline of the currently selected clip, which can be edited using the same pencil types as the TIMELINE panel. Users can choose any parameter and mix it up on the fly, for real-time hands on control of the beat maker process for endless creative possibilities.
The MIXER panel is BAM's full project mixer, providing access to mixing controls for all tracks on one screen. Each track includes gain fader, rotary control of A and B sends, and stereo pan, mute and solo buttons, plus visual representation of track audio levels. Users can control of their mix with up to 16 tracks, 2 sends and a Master channel.
