Musical Notes

How MIDI program calculate musical notes:

1 bar = 4 counts = whole note

1/2 bar = 2 counts = half note

1/4 bar = 1 count = quarter note

1/8 bar = 1/2 count = 8th note

1/16 bar = 1/4 count = 16th note

1/32 bar = 1/8 count = 32th note

Tempo = BPM (Beat Per Minute)

ex) if = 99  --> 99 counts/min.

1 min. = 60 sec = 60,000 milli sec.

thus, 20 sec = 99/3 counts,

60 sec = 99 counts

BPM decides the value of a quarter notes period

ex) = 100 means 100 counts per min. so, each = 600 milli seconds ( 60,000/100 milli sec = 600)

Different Mic show milli second sound gap depend on Mic position (Although those Mics were used at the same time of recording)

In Pro Tools,

- Apple key () + I: Identify beat

- Humanize beats: Create synchronization by milli sec. delay

- Beat change: Cut & Paste in Grid mode (e.g. 16th note)

- Pre roll, Post roll ==> Recording function providing convenience of real-time recording

- Pro Tools’ beat detection program
