Wavefrom (Synthesizer)

 

1. Analog synthesizer

- Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) generates basic waveforms (sine wave, square wave, ..)

- Synthesizers which adopted additive synthesis can generate modulated waveforms, such as sounds of Electric Piano and Bell

 

 

2. Digital Synthesizer

- Waveforms are stored in ROM (Read Only Memory) 

- PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) based syntheziers use sound samples stored in ROM as it's primary sound source

- PCM synthesizer can generate sounds of acoustic instruments, such as piano and drums, through synthesis of basic waveforms and acoustic waveforms
